Didi was more cheerful than most of her compatriots as she awoke; her assumption, such as it was, was that this was family business, and she'd been called into some corner of Despair's realm. Which was, in its way, faintly annoying, but she knew Despair would never do it if she wasn't needed.
Her first sign that she was mistaken came with the dogs. Despari's pets weren't always friendly, but she didn't think any of them would lunge at her like that.
