Volcano Prison, Monday, January 6, 2020

Volcano-roasted venison was a slight step up from gruel from the sky, but not enough to make Anakin want to stay here any longer. Classes were supposed to start today--he was pretty sure it was Monday, anyway--the new students were supposed to have a fun immersion via a picnic and not a terrifying bus crash-slash-kidnapping.

He was sure there would be paperwork on that.

"Right," he said to no one in particular. "Let's come up with a plan to get out of here. It looks like up is our best shot, unless someone can phase through walls and has been holding out on us." He smiled. "If we can combine escaping with blowing up that karking angel thing, all the better."

No idea too dumb!

[OOC: We have whatever you've brought with you on your person, plus the volcano pit, a teal deer carcass, stale Christmas cookies, and a congealed bucket of gruel. We'll attempt an escape in tonight's thread and get caught. Whoever gets caught will be strung up over the volcano pit until we're rescued tomorrow. If you don't have time/brainpower to play out being part of the escape attempt, hit me up in the OOC to be included in the "dangling over the pit" option tomorrow.]

"When the horned guy was still showing up I was thinking 'ambush'," Duke said. He had, in fact, even ~~handwavily~~ tried it -- and gotten thrown into the wall. "Not sure if that'd work with that flying nightmare, though."

"Does anyone have anything to club him over the head with? There's more of us than there are of him," Alexis said. "An ambush could work if we're all in on it."

She could be helpful sometimes.

"I have a rod," MOMO volunteered, materializing the rod out of nowhere. It was pink with a red jewel on the end of it. "Would this work?"

"And I've got knives," Verity offered. "Three of them. Better for throwing but stabbing is stabbing."

Duke raised his hand. "I also have knives. And regrets about my policy on not bringing guns to school functions." He looked around. "And there are lots of rocks around."

"Okay, ummm," Alexis said slowly, pressing her lips together, "I know I brought this up but I have some concerns that I'm putting on hold until later."

That was too many knives, guys. Too many.

"We have a very strict weapons policy inside the dorms," Anakin said.

That was reassuring, right?

For the record, there had been no evidence yet to dissuade Cass from the suspicion that the entire reason that deer was teal was some weird gimmick or prototype gone wrong courtesy of Cassium or whoever the big name in biosciences was in this time period. (Maybe they didn't run the majority of the place like they did in Los Angeles in her time? Which was ... an amazing thought, really, but also really hard for her to imagine when that was all she'd ever known.)

Right, so punching her way out hadn't worked, and nothing anyone else had tried yet seemed to be very successful.

"Phase through walls," she echoed, mostly to herself. "Man, where's Zack when you need him?"

At home in 2119, still trying to get a better handle on how to phase in and out of existence at will instead of by accident, Cass, that's where.

Which was neither here nor there anyway.

"I mean, I could try and throw somebody all the way up there maybe, but uh... other than that, yeah, I got nothin'."

"We've already had a flyer try," Duke said, nodding in Karolina's general direction (he'd paid attention, okay?). "But thanks for offering."

"Yeah," Karolina confirmed with what was almost an apologetic nod. "I mean, I still feel like up should be the way to go." It seemed kind of obvious right? "But I didn't really see a way out."

"Tony said he could turn cell phones into explosives," Anakin said. "If we blew a hole in the ceiling while that creepy thing is deliver whatever's the next horrible food choice, would that help?"

"Probably?" Karolina offered. "Anything that gets us closer to a direct way out helps."

"And okay, hear me out," Alexis said, "but has anyone thought of seducing him and everyone sneaks out while he's distracted?"

NO. HONEY NO.

Heather raised her hand. "Not it."

"Not anyone," Anakin said. "No."

"I'm not saying I want to! He's gross," Alexis said. "I just want to not be in a volcano way more."

Opal raised her hand. "So, that's a no on phasing, but I mean, I do have magic," she offered. "Sibyl and I--" she tapped her headset, just to make sure no one else assumed she was a crazy lady and talking to herself "--have been trying to figure out the best Thaumaturgical glyphs to try to get out of here."

Since your idea of just busting through the caldera seems fraught, Opal pointed out.

"Explosions are still easier, okay?" Opal muttered under her breath.

"I can put enemies to sleep," MOMO volunteered. Sheep Beam was a great spell. "It doesn't always work though, especially if resistances are in play. I can also heal."

"Does it work on creepy porcelain angel things?" Anakin wondered.

"Clearly the best plan is to distract them with a rousing sea shanty, then give them the old heave ho."

Sea Hawk, this was why you weren't allowed to make plans.

Duke gave the guy a long look.

"Oh god," he said faintly to no one in particular. "Is that what I sound like to you people?"

He had been assigned the silly pirate class last semester, after all.

That wasn't a 'no, that's a terrible idea', Duke.

"We should also mask our escape by setting a fire." Preferably a boat of some kind.

"Buddy. We are in a volcano. The only things flammable in here are us."

"True. We'll just have to sacrifice our clothes to the cause."

Because being named and on fire was a much better plan!

". . . Right, so we're going to make that Plan B."

"Add one more for the sharp pointies club!" said Abigail, brandishing her sword eagerly.

True, she really didn't know how to use it yet, but, hey, what better time to learn, right?

Also a valid life choice!

Oh, Ulysses was definitely in Team Sulk and Eat Cookies. Like, sure, it was great that people were being proactive but he knew himself, by which he meant he knew he had nothing to contribute.

So... Stale cookies. Yay.

There was a bright side to the fact that, if they were stuck in a volcano, at least they were stuck in a volcano with more than enough people willing to just throw themselves into the danger, which Astrid was not even a little interested in doing.

She honestly wouldn't have felt bad about it even if there weren't so many people being more proactive (and arguably insane) about it, either, because fuck this week and last week and everything about this right now.

For OOC things, including "yes, string me up over a pit tomorrow but omg life" headcounts.

Gonna try my best to actually make it happen in game, but in case I don't (I know how my workdays tend to go) let's definitely string Cass up over a pit, please. :D

*points up* Yes, this. Duke too please.

Ooooooh. Yes, yes, and yes. 100% chance of Pit Stringing for Amaya, Sidon, and Glen, despite my 95% chance of 'too brain dead to actually do it', please and thank you!

One way or another, this boy's ending the plot in bondage. :D

Since I don't know how my awakeness will hold up, Kar also goes in the 'whoops got strung up' pile.

She wishes she was showing the kids a better example, yes.
