The Oubliette and Surrounding Corridors, Saturday

There's no hope. No one's coming for you. No one wanted you, that's why you were taken. Except now, even Jareth doesn't want you. No one does. No one's coming. No hope. No hope. No hope no hope no hope nohopenohopenohopenohope...

The three captives had been in Jareth's oubliette for days now, with the mantra getting ever-louder in their ears and minds. Whether it was just a trick to get them to beg Jareth to take them back, or you're just setting an example for the others still left in the throne room remains to be seen. Whatever the case might be, things are looking pretty grim. The constant litany of 'no hope' and 'no one wants you' is getting awfully hard to ignore...

"Awesome," Jason said, crouching down beside her with no sense of self preservation. "We should get that off so we can get out of here," he added, pointing to the chain.

"That's not really a problem." Cara raised her hands, then an eyebrow, and dropped the chain. It fell to the ground with a clatter.

She assumed he was bright enough to figure out the rest.

"Wow, well done," Jason said, offering Cara his hand. "Come on then, let's get out of here. I'll warn you, I'm not sure what kind of a trip we're going to have back out."

Cara ignored the hand, pushing herself away from the wall. "Because clearly things so far have just been an absolute delight."

It wasn't that she was ungrateful, she just wasn't willing to trust it wasn't a trick until she was well and truly out of this place.

Jason pulled his hand back, and took a step back so she had room to get up. "I'm sorry," he said sympathetically. "We'll all go out together, so you won't be alone."

Oh, happy day, even more quality time with the snivelling wreck. Cara could hardly contain her joy. "Is there any reason we're still standing here then?"

Jason certainly had no interest in sticking around, so he moved back so she could go out first. "Nope, after you."

"Thank you," Cara mumbled as she passed him.

That didn't mean she wasn't prepared for this to be a trick.
