Silent Hill: Day 3

The Grand Hotel by morning is only marginally less eerie than it is by night. Outside, though, under the falling ash, there's a piece of Fandom you're supposed to be looking for, right?

[OOC: OPEN, last Silent Hill post, and up early for great... me not having to wake up until noon. Warning, many icons, links, and...pretty much the entire adventure will be understandably squicky. Welcome to horrorland!]

"As all right as I can be. Haven't gotten hurt yet, at least," she said softly, pausing and cocking her head to listen. From around a corner staggered one of the men with no arms, lurching towards them.

She fired her arrow at its chest (since there were no eyes to aim for), hitting it square in the center. It fell to the ground with a groan, though Katniss strung another bow, just in case.

Bod drew the borrowed knife but wasn't about to get closer than he had to, not when he was injured like he was. When the armless man fell, his sigh of relief was audible.

"I think it goes without saying that I do not like this place," he said, swallowing and blinking away some ash.

"I don't think anyone does," Katniss said softly, lowering her bow but just waiting for another attack. "Not even these things that live here."

"They seem to have adapted," he said, coughing and shaking his head. "We're not...we don't belong here. I don't think we'll be able to adapt without turning into something like them."

"I'd rather be dead," Katniss said, her voice completely emotionless. It was just a fact.

"I think I agree," he said, bowing his head and then shaking it. "We're not though. We're alive and we're stuck here dealing with this until something happens."

Or they died.

"We'll get home," Katniss told him confidently. "You're going to get back to Fandom, Bod." Maybe it was the fact that Bod reminded her of Peeta, or maybe it was how this place reminded her of the arena. But Katniss had shifted to survivalist mode, placing herself behind the wellbeing of others. She'd be fine. This was more important.

"I feel more confident about that then I did yesterday," he admitted, almost smiling. "Yesterday was pretty bad until we received that message from the island. I didn't once think we'd be forgotten but I wasn't sure what they could do."
