Within the Labyrinth, Saturday Morning

After a few hours of sleep, it's time to get going again. Everyone needs to be rescued by this evening, or Jareth gets to keep them all forever! And since this is Team Distraction, it's time to get very loud and very obvious. If everyone in the Labyrinth is focused on what you're up to, the other team will have a much easier time slipping by the goblins and rescuing your friends. So, start smashing things! Sing at the top of your lungs! Be a general nuisance all around the Labyrinth!

Of course, being a distraction usually means being bait. And being bait almost always means being in danger.

But you can handle it! Right?

[For Team Distraction! If any of you need an NPC, please, visit us over at this post and we'll send somebody by as soon as we can!]

Leia was up and ready to get moving again. After checking on her pony, of course.

Dammit, the pony was IMPORTANT, OK?

Bruce woke up early - of course - drank some water that he had stored in his belt, and checked the rest of his equipment to make sure nothing had come over during the night and stolen anything. Now it was just a matter of waiting for the whole group to get ready before venturing out.

(No, he wasn't the type to completely eschew teamwork and go off on his own yet. He hadn't unlearned the lesson that teamwork was good.)

There was nothing like the morning after spending the night somewhere you'd really rather leave while on some sort of adventure. As she'd thought, Jaina only needed about an hour to recharge, and before setting out again she was going over supplies to make sure nothing had gone missing during the night. After that woman who got all mad that they wouldn't stay, she wasn't taking chances.

Jason hadn't slept terribly well last night - it was difficult to take himself off alert, even when he wasn't on his guard shift - but he was rested enough that he felt ready to take on whatever this place was going to throw at them. Once he was up, he sat down and checked through his utility belt, as far from Bruce as he could get while still being with the group, because it would just be awkward otherwise.

Tim rarely had the chance to stretch before a bout of thrilling heroics, so he took the opportunity to do so now. It also helped work out the kinks from sleeping on the hard ground, and compensated a bit for the lack of coffee.

Kennedy'd gotten a decent amount of rest, although the cramp in her neck was killer this morning.

She stood and stretched, rotating her neck to work the stupid thing out and asking (through a yawn), "So, we ready to get our extra-obnoxious on?"

Katniss was used to moving again after scant hours of sleep, and was up and stretched out without much protest, either verbally or from her body.

Leia had dealt with plenty of muppets in her life. Deranged muppets that lived in crazy mazes, not so much. But she was ready for any surprises.

Jaina wasn't sure exactly what, if any, of her powers would work here, and it was really getting on her nerves. They were in a giant maze, it would be nice to have some danger sense to count on in case anything was coming at them.

Seriously, she vastly preferred ysalamiri.

As the group moved on, Bruce found himself playing with the pouches in his utility belt, as if he was trying to decide which weapons would be more appropriate to use for any monsters they came across. Shuriken were potentially deadly, but did bolas actually do enough? He really needed some kind of weapon that was in between those two extremes.

He kept this self-debate in the background of his mind, though, maintaining focus on the possibility of attack or dead ends.

Leia's narrative had to pause and snicker about "interaction with the knockers."

She peered at the doors, looking for a knob or handle of some sort to open them. Wait, did one of the knockers just twitch?

Rinoa watched as Leia chose the door on the left -- the one with a knocker conveniently stuck in his ears. She knelt and lifted the ring that had been on the ground.

"Should we all go through the other door?" she asked, as much to her companions as to the knockers themselves.

Re: The right way! And... down?

[personal profile] angelo_wings 2010-12-11 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)

Rinoa
Rinoa had braced herself, for the fall, and was wishing -- for perhaps the hundredth time -- that she had just found a way to magically level this stupid horrible Labyrinth while standing outside of it. Surely his nullification couldn't be that effective, could it?

And then she landed in ... to be honest, she wasn't sure that she did land. Something was holding her up, though. That couldn't be all bad.

If only it didn't feel so much like being groped. She wriggled around, looking to see what she had gotten herself tangled in.

Helping Hands
She was in something akin to a hole filled with hands, all grasping and pulling (or holding and pushing), with nothing but hands and a square of light above and hands and darkness below.

"Stop wiggling!" Where there had once been six hands was now a face. "You're making it very hard to help!"

Rinoa
"Hey!" Rinoa gasped, because she wasn't tangled in something, she was being fondled by disembodied weird hand-things, on a wall. And that was seriously not okay.

"What kind of help are you trying to offer, buster?"

Helping Hands
It was hard for a face made up of hands to roll its eyes, but the newly-formed face in front of Rinoa certainly gave it a valiant attempt. "Have you noticed how you're not falling?" it asked wryly. "You're welcome."

Honestly people. A little groping in exchange for not being flat was more than fair!

Rinoa
"So you stopped me from falling so you could feel me up?" Rinoa asked, a touch huffily. "Am I supposed to thank you for that? It's kind of creepy."

Helping Hands
"No," another corrected. "We felt you up while we stopped you from falling."

"Only some of us," a third face sulked and then hands flowed away to form another face that added a pouty, "Yeah."

The other face sighed. "Are all of you going to complain about this?"

"Yea--"

"I didn't mean the rest of you," the face snapped. "I meant all of them!"

Rinoa
"Nobody likes being felt up without their permission," Rinoa said. Apparently, now was a good time to stop the saving-the-day mission in order to give a lecture on No Means No. "How would you feel if ---"

Did hands even have erogenous zones?

"Never mind," she said. "What happens now?"

If the answer was 'more groping,' she might rather be dropped.

Helping Hands
"Now we decide to which oubliette to put you in," the hands mused. "We could put you in with the others, maybe?"

"Naw," scoffed another. "His Majesty doesn't like too many together. Put this lot in a different one."

Jason was never going to tell anyone that he had screamed in surprise when he started to fall.

He was also never going to tell anyone that his scream reached a higher pitch when he suddenly stopped falling. "What the hell?!" he said. In his defense, he was a little uncomfortable right now.

"The oubliettes sure are busy this week."

It was hard to tell where the voice had come from originally, but a few of the hands in front of Jason flowed together to form a face. It eyed him critically and asked, "Did Jareth get tired of you, too?"

Jason would have leaned back if he could, but up close and personal seemed like the only option. "I'm pretty sure I'm the one who's getting tired of things. What the hell are you?"

The hands were getting much better at simulating eye rolling. "We're Helping Hands," the face retorted. "And if you're one of the captive heirs, I can see why Jareth is sending you to the oubliettes."

Another face formed. "I don't think that's a very helpful attitude," it said reproachfully.

"Uh, who are you meant to help?" Jason asked. Because if they weren't going to help him, he was going to work a lot harder to get away. "Is the oubliette what's below us?"

"Did you notice how you weren't plummeting into the oubliette?" Another face asked. "That's helpful, isn't it?"

"Oh. Well, yeah I guess it is," Jason said, peering down a little and noticing the lack of close ground. "Uh, thanks then, for the...you know, hand." Whoever designed this place had a really odd sense of humor. "Is there anything I should know before I get down there?"

There was some whispering back and forth between the hands. "I don't think we're supposed to give you much help," a new face said, sounding a little embarrassed.

"We didn't with the last group," another voice piped up.

"Should we put them all together?" asked a third.

"No," said the first. "Jareth doesn't want too many in one oubliette. Let's put this lot in a different hole."
