FALLOUTVERSE - Capital Wasteland into Vault 106 - DAY THREE

For a moment, it seemed almost like a rustic scene: a herd of calm, two-headed cows ambled idly past Fandom's camping spot, and took up a position to graze off what little grass managed to wrestle itself loose from the ruined soil, just a few feet away.

But overnight, the cracks had increased in size, cutting through the sky. Looking upwards now, it was almost as if whatever location they were pulled towards had a halo, a small ring of friendly skies from which the blackness shot out in several directions.

Furthermore, though, this was Radscorpion country, and the people who travelled here now would do best to watch their steps...

And after that, it was on to a small hidden door in the middle of nowhere - behind which hid Vault 106.

[[ wait for the ocd up! ]]

Ender hadn't slept much last night, but that, he imagined, was not a problem here: the more eyes open, the more they were capable of making sure nothing invaded and destroyed their camp.

He'd had vaguely distorted dreams of Mirelurks when he did dream, anyway; he'd rather not return to that.

He got up, taking his small collection of Mirelurk cakes and Iguana meat with him, and went to distribute it to anyone who looked hungry.

Quinn wasn't sure when or how she'd fallen asleep, but she had -- head conked back against the rock, tire iron slipping from her grasp, and she was pretty sure the sticky stuff matting her hair was drool.

At least, she hoped it was only drool.

She got to her feet carefully and (leaving the tire iron where it was for the moment) started going through some calisthenics. If today was another day of walking and hitting things with a tire iron -- which was exactly her idea of fun, no lie -- she didn't want her muscles to seize up on her.

Alex hadn't gotten eaten overnight, a fact that he was very grateful for. His shoulder continued to throb and ache but he refused to show it. He just wouldn't use it.

He could feel exhausted to his bones but he couldn't deal with that now. He'd seen Mirelurks last night, dealt with a few of them with the help of the stolen gun and was now seeing them behind his eyes.

Great. More fodder for nightmares. Nonetheless, he was awake.

Reno hadn't gotten a hell of a lot of sleep last night, no. But then, Reno was used to not getting a hell of a lot of sleep. He was greeting the day with a bottle of water and a smirk on his face, pacing around the camp and keeping an eye out for anybody who still hadn't managed to get their hands on a real weapon, or who wouldn't mind a nice, big knife to supplement what they had.

And, you know, he was killing anything big and ugly that got too close to the camp, but that was more like a happy little afterthought. Monsters!

Emma...hadn't ever fallen asleep. And she felt just fine.

She'd spent the night occasionally wandering around the perimeter of the camp, and sometimes watching her classmates sleep. It was boring, but it passed the time.

Puck woke up with a stiff back, clutching his chainsaw like -- well, not like a teddy bear, exactly, but like someone who was not as macho as they pretended to be, perhaps.

His first task, this morning, was to carefully extract tiny rocks from his skin, from where they'd dug into him in his sleep.

Jason, like the others, hadn't slept very well. At the moment, he was studying the cracks, and trying to figure out how far away they were from where they seemingly needed to be. It seemed like most of the people from Fandom were capable of handling themselves - they might be able to make it safely if everyone's aim was good.

Alex woke up, having gotten only a little bit of sleep last night and immediately reached for her bat. It was more to reassure herself than anything.

She stretched a bit, in an attempt to get rid of the stiff feeling in her arms. She hadn't slept in the most comfortable of positions. Ow.

Ben was on night two of "meditation is the same as sleep, no really," and it was starting to show a bit in his eyes if you knew him well enough to notice. He was sipping carefully from his water, trying to keep hydrated, and feeling weird about missing those protein bars his father always insisted on stuffing into the X-Wing cockpit.

Human remains, Reno was good with. Thin air? Sure.

Glowing things that were crammed into the rock walls, like some sort of otherworldly beacon calling them home?

Hey, Reno was down with that.

And so, nodding a little to himself as though he'd just committed himself to picking up the Holy Grail, Reno took a breath, stepped forward, and reached out his hand toward the missing piece. He'd had a good time this weekend, overall, but it was time to go home.

QUESTION! Since I have never played Fallout!

Since Emma does not breathe right now, would she be unaffected (and therefore tempted to smack the hallucinating people) by the air in the Vault? Or would it permeate even her self-contained system?

I booted up Fallout 3 yesterday just to go do Vault 106. Oh man. So freaky.

I'm kind of regretting watching the Vault 106 video(s). Creepy doesn't even begin to cover it.

I've never actually played Fallout before. And... I'm not sure I'm going to now. ><;
